The Royal Order of Wasa (see the photo above) was established in 1772 by the Swedish king Gustav III.
It is a reward for success in the field of industry, trade, agriculture and the arts, it had 5 classes. At first, the badge of the order was designed as an gold oval locket of a red enamel with an image of vase in the middle (and then it was placed in the middle of the Maltese Cross). By the way, the movie star Greta Garbo, the composer Raimonds Pauls, the founder of the Moscow Taganka Theatre Yuri Lyubimov, the director of the State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky were awarded this order.

The Royal Norwegian Order of Saint Olav is the supreme Norwegian order, despite the fact that it was instituted in 1847 by the King of Sweden and Norway Oscar I. He became a Norwegian award after the dissolution of the Swedish-Norwegian Union in 1905. The King of Norway is the Grand Master of this order.

A curious fact: Order of St. Olav is mentioned in a book named "Kari" by the famous Norwegian children's writer Zinken Hopp (author of "The Magic Chalk", "Jon and Sophus" and others.).

  1. Very interesting! Such beautiful detailed work as well, especially for how they must have crafted them, lots of hours of labor can be seen here. Thank you for sharing.
