Our trip to the scenic Hardangerfjord (part 1)

We said goodbye to beloved Voss and welcoming Fleischer's Hotel and went to the fjords.

A trip to Ulvik

Morning (31. 08.2012). After breakfast our family group boarded the bus (bus parking – 100 m near the hotel), going to a small town/village - Ulvik.

What I know about Ulvik

About 1100 inhabitants live there. There are a few small hotels, cafes and a restaurant serving dishes prepared with local products. Also there is a fruit farm where they grow apples, sweet cherries and cherries. They make cider, brandy and even juice from their apples. Tourists are happy to take on the farm, will show the manufacture of cider with necessary tasting. What can be done in the presence of microclimate and diligence!

On the waves of Hardangerfjord

We pulled up to the dock and quickly boarded a comfortable boat. Its engine roared, the boat lifted slightly and ran to the town/commune Eidfjord, where you can sail, respectively, Eidfjorden. Eidfjorden is something like the appendix to the large Hardangerfjord.

Our boat was a catamaran air cushion, designed for about 40-45 passengers. It developed a speed of 35-40 km/hour, and maybe more. There was a minicafe + crew of 2 seamen.

After half an hour the boat boat took us to shore of Eidfjord commune. I will tell you about it in detail in the next part of my story.
